PPC Greenlights Four Alliances Ahead of 2026 Elections

JUBA, South Sudan – The Political Parties Council (PPC) has cleared four political alliances to participate in the 2026 general elections. PPC Chairman James Akol Zakayo announced the approval, saying the four coalitions had met the requirements for registration. According to Zakayo, the alliances satisfied the regulatory requirements set by the council.

He said the coalitions also fulfilled the statutory criteria required for inclusion in the PPC’s official register. The approval formally places the four alliances on the council’s register ahead of the 2026 elections. Zakayo said the decision was reached after the coalitions met the legal conditions required by the council. The Political Parties Council is the body responsible for registering political parties and alliances in accordance with the law. Registration by the council is a requirement for political parties and alliances seeking official recognition.

The PPC chairman did not provide further details on the individual alliances in the statement announcing their approval. The names and composition of the four approved coalitions were not included in the information released by the council. No additional details were immediately available regarding the alliances’ leadership or membership structures.

The announcement confirms that four political alliances have now been cleared by the PPC to take part in South Sudan’s 2026 general elections after meeting the council’s regulatory and statutory requirements.
